Conspiracy Theory: Whats wrong with our society?

Conspiracy theories have been around for years, but the latest conspiracy theory about Sandy Hook Elementary school makes me curious as to what you think.

Since The mass shooting that left 26 people dead, most of them children, on December 14th, conspiracy theories have been eating up the Internet. Professor of media studies at Florida Atlantic University, James F. Tracy, posted on his blog a conspiracy theory pointing out the discrepancies with Sandy Hook. The conspiracy theories started on his blog, points out many discrepancies in the media coverage following the horrific shooting. He questions how many shooters there really were, and says the parents were hired actors, he also brings up the guns used.  He does say regardless 20 children were murdered. He makes plausible points, but who would gain something by a shooting like this happening?

Since the shooting gun control has been a hot topic. Many of the victim’s families are calling for stricter gun control. Some advocates even want guns completely taken away, and just like that, the conspiracy theory has a motive. How horrible is it to even question the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre? Why do so many people believe in this conspiracy theory? Is it hard for us to imagine a person taking innocent lives in a horrific act of violence? Advocates of stricter gun laws are saying that the NRA is behind this conspiracy. Saying that they made up the hoax to deter people away from getting stricter gun laws.

Whose at fault here?  Negligent Journalism practices, Guns being available, mental health, or is it the audience…. society? Yes I said it. It’s the audience that drives mainstream media. Guess what? The only way to solve this conspiracy theory is to watch the video of Adam lanza entering the school and killing 26 children. Do you want to see that video? You probably do, but think about this… put yourself in the parents’ shoes. Would you want the video of your child being murdered released? Can you imagine how frustrating it must be to read that people actually believe this is a conspiracy?

Conspiracy or not they lost a child. Now , if the video of what happened inside the school was released, how would that make you feel as a parent? Do you want to see children being slaughtered? Could you sleep after watching that? Why is our society, especially my generation, so quick to jump to conclusions of conspiracy? Do you really want to see what happened? We live in a digital age, where we believe what we see, and if we don’t see it, then we question it.  The video of what happened inside Sandy Hook will never be released. Now conspiracy theorist questions this, and say they wont release it because it shows the truth. They don’t release things like that out of respect for the families! Stop thinking this is some conspiracy, because you don’t want to see what human condition has come to.

Let me point something out real quick. Do you remember watching the video footage of Columbine high school shooting? I do, I remember being in the third grade and seeing Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, walking around the school with their guns on TV.  This image has been burned into my mind, but I can’t tell you a single victims name. If this video is released it only puts more spotlight on the killer.  It will only make him more famous and inspire copycats. This video would only numb another delusional person and inspire them to do the same thing, but only bigger and better. I think it would be unethical to release the school footage.

Which is easier believing that a single person did this, or believing that our government did this in order to take our guns away? It’s easier to blame the government and see the conspiracy rather than face the ugly truth that someone could commit such a horrific act. It’s easier to bring gun control up too. This is not a gun control question, in my opinion. Connecticut has the strictest gun laws on the east coast. This is a question of mental health, something that hits closer to home. Our guns should not even be brought up, we are allowed to have guns and should be allowed to protect ourselves. I believe in the second amendment. A gun will rust into a pile if no one picks it up. It is human condition that has been broken by our society, so much that we want the details, every gruesome detail of this horrific crime. If we don’t get those details we question it.

Or is this a conspiracy? Did our government kill 26 children and hire actors to play the part of the parents. Aren’t journalist supposed to expose things like this? What if this story goes so deep that they cant? Then people slander them for even questioning the massacres actuality. We are all turning on each other. That’s what all of our enemies want.  So you can either believe that this is a conspiracy, or you can believe that it really happened. Either way it’s horribly sad that our society has turned out like this. Paranoid of government, material driven, and numb, something is WRONG in our society. That’s the main problem. Americans need to come together instead of apart. These children’s deaths should not be exploited to bring up gun control, or create conspiracies about government… shame on BOTH sides most of all shame on our society. Stop taking away from the victims. Its only been one month. What happened to us?
